More than 150 participating restaurants– many from Westchester County including Crabtree Kittle House Restaurant & Inn (Chappaqua, N.Y.), Tarry Tavern (Tarrytown, N.Y.) and The Barley House Restaurant and Tavern (Thornwood, N.Y.)– plus others in Dutchess, Rockland, Orange, Ulster, Monroe counties, the Capitol Region, Connecticut and, New York City have all joined the cause to #feedourmission.

The growing list of businesses will contribute a portion of their proceeds on October 23 to support the care and treatment of Blythedale’s medically complex children on the Hospitals Infant and Toddler Unit, which serves the Hospital’s smallest and most fragile babies.  With a 41-day average length of stay, 91% of Blythedale’s patients are successfully discharged home.

“Approximately 50% of our patients are under the age of one and come to us from the neonatal intensive care units of the major medical centers in the greater New York metropolitan region,” said Larry Levine, President and CEO of Blythedale Children’s Hospital. “The proceeds from Dine Out are going to this important inpatient program to help it continue to grow and flourish.”

“Once again, the restaurant industry is stepping up in a major way,” said Robert R. Lane, Chief Development Officer of Blythedale Children’s Hospital. “In this case, raising funds for a vitally important program that enables parents to bring their children home, in many cases, for the very first time.”

Dine Out has tapped celebrity chef and renowned restauranteur, Waldy Malouf, to bring the heat and flip the fun switch as Event Chair.  Mr. Malouf currently serves as Senior Director of Food and Beverage Operations at The Culinary Institute of America. He has helped boost “Dine Out” participation with the recruitment of some of the culinary college’s premier restaurants like The Bocuse Restaurant, The American Bounty Restaurant and Apple Pie Bakery Café.

“All you have to do is go out to eat, have fun and then the restaurants will donate to this great hospital, “said Waldy Malouf, Event Chair, Celebrity Chef and Restauranteur.  “We will raise our forks in support of the kids at Blythedale.”

There’s still many ways to get involved, such as signing on as participating restaurant or encouraging your favorite restaurant to sign up. In addition, you can become a “Dine Out” ambassador or host a table for friends and family at a participating venue.
